Participating cities are: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Kansas City, Orlando, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, and Philadelphia. The cities will receive help from the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and the Institute for Market Transformation. Both groups are coordinators of the City Energy Project and will help the cities create plans for boosting their energy efficiency.
Organizers of the City Energy Project predict the initiative will result in not only increased energy efficiency, but also lower energy bills, increased property values, and job creation to help stimulate the economy.
It is hoped the ten participating cities will be models for communities nationwide and around the world to become healthier and more prosperous.
